Choosing benefits can feel easier when you see how they might work in real life. The following scenarios demonstrate how Solventum’s medical plans work in combination with other company benefits to meet the needs of three different employees. These are fictional examples and are not intended to be advice or recommendations.
Please note: The fictional scenarios on this page reflect Solventum benefits for the 2027 plan year.

Maya and her spouse are planning to grow their family through adoption. They expect to use a mix of family-building resources, medical care and childcare support during the year. Maya is choosing the Prime Advantage Plan because she prefers a balance between what she pays from her paycheck and what she may pay when she receives care.
Physical well-being
Maya and her spouse will use the preventive care available through the Prime Advantage Plan, including annual checkups and recommended screenings. As they prepare to welcome a child, Maya is also exploring Progyny’s adoption support for personalized guidance, resources and help navigating the adoption process.
For 2027, Solventum is increasing financial support for eligible adoption and surrogacy expenses from up to $10,000 to up to $20,000 per child, giving Maya and her spouse additional help as they build their family.
Emotional well-being
Maya knows that the adoption process can bring important decisions and periods of uncertainty. She plans to use the Employee Assistance Program through SupportLinc for confidential counseling and emotional well-being resources. For 2027, the EAP offers expanded choice and access to a licensed provider.
Financial well-being
Maya and her spouse qualify for the tobacco-free discount and Healthy Living Incentive, helping lower the cost of their family medical coverage. Maya will also contribute pre-tax dollars to a Health Savings Account (HSA) to help pay for eligible health care expenses now and save for future needs.
As they prepare to welcome their child, Maya is reviewing Solventum’s expanded paid parental leave for 2027 and considering a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to help pay for eligible childcare expenses when she returns to work. She is also exploring Bright Horizons resources for childcare, parental leave planning and other family support.

Marcus and his husband both manage ongoing health needs. Marcus has diabetes, and his husband regularly visits a specialist for a chronic joint condition. Because they expect frequent appointments, prescriptions and other medical services, Marcus is enrolling them in the Basic PPO Plan.
The plan has higher paycheck contributions, but Marcus values its lower deductible and greater protection from significant in-network expenses. For 2027, the Basic PPO Plan’s in-network family deductible decreases from $1,300 to $1,000 and its in-network family out-of-pocket maximum decreases from $10,800 to $7,000.
Physical well-being
Marcus uses Teladoc Health’s diabetes management program to receive a connected glucose meter, testing supplies and personalized coaching from certified diabetes educators. His husband uses Hinge Health for virtual exercise therapy and coaching to help manage recurring knee pain.
They also use OneImaging when they need services such as X-rays or MRIs. The program helps them locate high-quality imaging providers, schedule appointments and potentially save on out-of-pocket costs.
Emotional well-being
Managing appointments, medications and ongoing health concerns can sometimes feel overwhelming. Marcus uses EAP services through SupportLinc for confidential counseling and strategies to manage stress. His husband can also use the EAP at no cost because the program is available to household members, even if they are not enrolled in a Solventum medical plan.
Financial well-being
Marcus and his husband qualify for the tobacco-free discount and Healthy Living Incentive, which helps reduce the premiums for their coverage. Because the Basic PPO Plan is not eligible for an HSA, Marcus contributes to a Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and uses pre-tax funds for eligible expenses such as prescriptions, office visits and other health care costs.
Marcus also enrolls in Critical Illness Insurance for additional financial protection if he or his husband experiences a covered condition. Because his husband has access to medical coverage through his own employer, Marcus takes the reduced spouse/domestic partner surcharge into account when comparing their coverage options. For 2027, the surcharge decreases from $211 to $100 per month, representing potential annual savings of up to $1,332.

Priya is single, active and generally uses her medical coverage for preventive care and occasional minor health needs. Because she does not expect significant health care expenses in 2027, she is choosing the Choice Advantage Plan, which has the lowest monthly premium of the three medical plan options.
Physical well-being
Priya uses Teladoc Primary Care to build an ongoing relationship with a virtual primary care team. She can use the service for routine care, prescription support and minor health concerns that come up during the year.
Priya also elects the VSP+ Vision Plan to help lower the cost of her annual eye exam, contact lenses and a new pair of glasses. She participates in healthy activities through Personify Health and takes advantage of the additional ways to earn rewards available in 2027.
Emotional well-being
Priya sometimes has trouble maintaining healthy sleep habits when work gets busy. She uses well-being resources available through Personify Health and knows she can contact the Employee Assistance Program if she would like confidential counseling or additional support.
Priya also plans time away throughout the year to rest and recharge. In 2027, eligible employees receive an additional paid company holiday for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and an additional personal holiday.
Financial well-being
Priya contributes to a Health Savings Account (HSA) to prepare for both current and future health care expenses. She plans to keep part of her balance available for unexpected costs and invest another portion for longer-term needs. She also receives Solventum’s HSA contribution and qualifies for the tobacco-free discount and Healthy Living Incentive, which helps lower her medical plan premium.
To continue building her financial security, Priya increases her 401(k) contribution and uses the Empower mobile app to monitor her account. She also enrolls in Pet Insurance to help manage preventive care and unexpected veterinary expenses for her dog.
